Virtual PD Options
Here are some options for useful professional development opportunities that are available virtually:
Pyramid Model Trainings - The Pyramid Model focuses on evidence-based practices to support children's social-emotional development. The recordings of the Vermont sessions for preschool classrooms are available for FREE at this link. Northern Lights credit available upon completion of the evaluation form.
Stern Center's Building Blocks for Literacy - a foundational course about early literacy development that can help teachers to develop their own play-based activities and routines to support children's literacy. (Northern Lights credit available) Cost is $50.
CLASS 2nd Edition Observation Trainings - With CLASS serving as a backbone for evaluating program quality through Vermont's STARS, take the opportunity this summer to get to know this tool! It looks specifically at evidence-based teaching practices that support child development. This is a synchronous virtual training, so the credits should transfer to Northern Lights. Check the links for cost.
NAEYC On-Demand Webinars - NAEYC offers workshops on a variety of topics and at a variety of price points. These trainings are great for experienced teachers looking for opportunities to stay updated and reflect on classroom practice - especially if you'd like to explore the updated Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Northern Lights credit is not currently available, but stay tuned for upcoming changes to this policy!
TS Gold Trainings - Interrater Reliability Training is just one of the free training options offered by TS Gold. Go to Develop and then to their Quorum PD site. Under "My Courses" you can link to the age group you teach to find more options. Try the Objectives for Development and Learning or The Power of Gold courses to learn more about observation and documentation.
