Following Rules & Expectations
I wanted to share a couple of resources that might be helpful for teachers and families thinking about preschoolers creating, teaching, and following rules and expectations.
First, this is an article for families about teaching your child to cooperate with requests (and what to do when they don't comply!) This backpack connection is about using positive language and strategies to improve behavior and this is a nice menu of solutions for children with challenging behaviors.
Secondly, this is a tip sheet for families about coming up with home rules. It pairs well with this social story about following house rules and this sample visual of rules.
Finally, this is a nice sheet to use to connect with families about expectations in the classroom and what they have as priorities. And this is the final piece I will share about teaching expectations in the classroom: Stop & Go activity.
