Classroom Transitions

First, here are some classroom resources. This video has a bunch of low-prep transition activities that can also support learning. This tip sheet of "what works" might be useful for some teachers and if you prefer videos, this contains much of the same information.


Some children need visual supports in order to successfully transition. Here are ready-made visuals for common early childhood classroom transitions. Head Start ECLKC also has some ready-made visuals.


Finally, I know many of you are supporting families around transitions. Last month, I sent an article about independence with routines and creating and using visual schedules at home. As a follow-up, this tip sheet about effective transitions might be useful for some families.
